Aldbury to Frithsden, Hertfordshire

Aldbury to Frithsden, Hertfordshire

This 15 mile cycle route is just a stone’s throw from London, yet you may find this difficult to believe. Set off from the Greyhound Inn in Aldbury and climb out of the village before cruising through the pastoral backdrop of the Ashridge Estate. If visions of rural splendour excite your appetite, then make your descent to the Alford Arms where you will be able to enjoy a delicious lunch that will have you raring to go again.
If you want to include some historical enrichment in your route then make sure that you stop when you get to Berkhamsted. Here are the castle ruins where William the Conqueror learned of the English surrender in 1066 after the battle of Hastings.
From here your route will take you along the banks of the canal for a couple of miles before you turn off to make your way back to where you started.
